Fly Through Heathrow With Avis And British Airways
Avis and British Airways are to launch a shared check-in
facility at London Heathrow, designed to make travelling through
the airport to the aircraft as swift and simple as possible.
From April, customers will be able to return their Avis car
and then check-in at a British Airways desk located within Avis'
office. The desk will be staffed by British Airways
representative's from Sunday to Friday, 8am - 8pm, and will be
situated within a dedicated area at Avis' Heathrow location on
Northrop Road, the biggest car rental facility in Europe.
The new facility will feature all the standard British Airways
check-in facilities and customers will be able to check in both
hand and hold luggage. Passengers will be issued with a boarding
pass thereby allowing them to bypass check-in in the terminal
building and go straight to passport control.
The Avis location has a fleet of courtesy buses which touch
down at all four of the airport's terminals every four minutes,
allowing passengers to get from the Avis location to the main
airport building quickly and easily.
Gate 5
Heathrow Airport will also witness a further development, following
the partnership launch. Avis is to introduce an innovative customer
service screen at British Airways' Gate 5 at Heathrow terminal
1.
Using leading edge flat screen technology, a plasma panel will
display special Avis offers, general rental information and generic
advertising, which can be updated daily. In addition, customers
will be able to connect straight through to Avis' Central
Reservations via a dedicated phone booth adjacent to the
screen.
