January 2008 saw the launch of the Avis 3 Minute Promise for
Avis Preferred members at its Heathrow Airport location. Through
February and March the service will be launched at all other major
UK airport locations including Gatwick, Stansted, Manchester,
Birmingham, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Bristol.
Avis Preferred is Avis' complimentary frequent renter scheme
and from January, Preferred members are being guaranteed their car
keys and a printed Rental Agreement within three minutes, or
less.
The 3 minute service begins when the customer enters the Avis
premises and time can be measured by the renter with a stop watch
provided at the start of each rental process. If
the time elapsed is over the three minutes, the customer will
receive an apology, and a few days later, a retail voucher worth
£20 in the post.

explains: "It is our aim to enhance our customer
service through best practice initiatives such as
this. Our new 3 Minute Promise ensures that our
Preferred Members have a guarantee from us to process their rental
as quickly as possible. At Heathrow airport over
the first six weeks since the launch we have served over 3,250 Avis
Preferred customers and only given out three retail vouchers and
apologies. This is an excellent success rate and we are confident
this will be mirrored at further locations. In addition, we are
aiming to roll the service out across all 25 Avis airport locations
by the end of May. We believe we are the first car rental provider
in the UK to make this promise."
The launch of the 3 Minute Promise in the UK follows a
successful trial and implementation of the service at 18 Avis
locations in France, where, a 99.7% success rate is now achieved on
average. The service is now available at over
390 locations across Europe.
Daniel continues: "The long-term aim of
this initiative is to ensure that all Avis Preferred members
receive consistent benefits and standards regardless of where the
Avis location is. This is part of Avis' ongoing commitment to speed
of service."
Renting as an Avis Preferred member is quick as there is no
need, in applicable countries, to complete documentation each time
the customer rents a vehicle. Having signed
their first Master Rental Agreement when they become an Avis
Preferred member they then simply need to show their driving
licence each time they rent, collect their keys and drive away. The
scheme appeals to the business and leisure traveller alike,
offering pre-prepared paperwork, priority customer service and a
dedicated reservation line.
