Board
The Board of Directors
In addition to the non-executive Chairman, the Board consists
of 4 executive directors and 5 other non-executive
directors. Axel von Ruedorffer, Les Cullen and Pierre Alain De
Smedt are independent non-executive Directors.
| Alun Cathcart (Born 12/9/43)
appointed Non-Executive Chairman of Avis Europe on 25 May
2004. Until 1 January 1999 he was Chairman and Chief Executive
of Avis Europe plc and served as Interim Chief Executive from
November 2003 until March 2004. He spent 14 years in executive
positions in the transportation industry before joining Avis Europe
in 1980 and became Chief Executive in 1983. He is Chairman of
Palletways Group Ltd. |

| Jean-Pierre Bizet (Born 29/2/48)
appointed Executive Deputy Chairman on 25 May 2004 and to the Board
on 29 October 2002. He is Chief Executive Officer of s.a.D'Ieteren
n.v. Jean-Pierre spent most of his career as a partner with
McKinsey & Co in Paris, before joining the Belgian
retail group, GIB, as Chief Executive Officer in 1999. He brings
broad experience in retail and service sectors, as well as in the
management of international multi-business groups. |

| Pascal Bazin (Born
9/1/57) was appointed Chief
Executive on 1st January 2008, following two and a half
years with the Group as President of Avis France where he led a
successful turnaround and repositioned Avis France as the market
leader. He joined Avis Europe in 2005 from Redcats, the third largest home
shopping Group worldwide, where he was CEO of the Redcats
specialised brands division and Senior Vice President of Group
Strategy/Development. His previous appointments
include Chief Executive Officer of a number of international divisions of
the cosmetic group, Yves Rocher. He began his career in 1980 with
management consulting firm Peat Marwick Mitchell, after graduating
from Polytechnique school in Paris. |

| Martyn
Smith (Born 10/5/55) joined Avis Europe as Group Finance
Director in 2002 from John Menzies plc where he also held the
position of Group Finance Director from July 1999. Prior to joining
Menzies, he was Group Financial Controller for Inchcape plc and
previously held a number of financial roles with Inchcape plc and
Rothmans International. |

| Simon
Palethorpe (Born 23/9/1968) was appointed on 6th
December 2004 as Commercial Director and joined Avis Europe from
the John Lewis Partnership where he was Finance Director for John
Lewis Department Stores. He was previously Managing Director
of John Lewis Direct. His earlier career included appointments with
Levi Strauss Europe and PepsiCo (latterly with Tricon Global
Restaurants). |

Roland D'Ieteren
(Born 24/1/42) appointed 3 February 1997. He is Chairman of the
s.a. D'Ieteren n.v., having previously been President and
Chief Executive Officer since 1975. He joined s.a. D'Ieteren
n.v. in 1971. He is also a non-executive Director of Belron
s.a.
Benoit Ghiot (Born 19/4/69) appointed 15
December 2004. He is Chief Financial Officer of s.a.
D'Ieteren n.v. and a member of the Board of Directors of Belron
s.a. Prior to joining D'Ieteren in 2002, he was Group
Controller and Strategic Planning Director with the Belgian retail
group GIB.
Axel von
Ruedorffer (Born 30/9/41) appointed 27 June 2001. From
1984 to 2002 he was a member of the Board of Managing Directors of
Commerzbank AG, having joined the bank in 1967 and was responsible
for Accounting and Taxes, Compliance, Financial Control and
Internal Audit. He is a non-executive Director of a number of
companies, including Stiebel Eltron Group and a number of financial
institutions.
Les Cullen (Born
30/1/52) appointed 25 May 2004. He has held successive appointments
as Group Finance Director of STC plc, De La Rue plc, Goodman
Fielder Ltd, Inchcape plc and Prudential plc, having previously
held senior financial roles with Black and Decker and
Grandmet. During the last few years he has also been Chairman
of a number of private equity backed companies. He is a
non-executive Director of DTZ Holdings plc, where he is Chairman of
the audit committee. He is also a non-executive director of
Interserve plc, Global Smaller Companies plc and BT Pension Scheme
Trustees Ltd. He is also a trustee of the
charity Sustrans Ltd.
Pierre Alain De
Smedt (Born 4/4/1944) appointed 1 February 2007. He is
Chairman of Febiac npa (Belgian Automobile Association). He was
with Volkswagen for 25 years, managing operations in Belgium, South
America and was appointed Chairman of Volkswagen's Spanish SEAT
business in 1997. He moved to Renault for five years, becoming
Deputy Director General for Renault Groupe SA. He currently holds a
number of non-UK directorships with Belgacom, CNP, Deceuninck,
Valeo and Alcopa.
Avis Executive Board
Avis Europe has an Avis Executive Board (AEB) comprising
the executive directors, senior functional heads and the managing
directors from the five major corporate markets in Europe. The AEB
meets monthly to review trading and progress with key strategic
initiatives and to coordinate the efficient management of the
business.
